With a masters in both entrepreneurship and media and multimedia, Alexandre Giraud began his career as a risk capital analyst, helping start-ups to raise capital funds, before creating a media platform and joining a record company. In 2002, Alexandre discovered the humanitarian aid sector and decided to go to Haiti for two years to manage a rural development project. “I then discovered a world where you could combine values, meeting people and learning new things with doing a professional job and generating a positive impact for society.”
Until 2010, he held various positions on the ground before joining the Emergency Response team as Middle East desk manager, before becoming Missions Manager and, finally, Director of Operations at Première Urgence International.
After having been appointed Director of Operations in 2015, Alexandre has become CEO as of October 2017.
I was impressed by the commitment and professionalism shown by its teams, as well as the organization’s vision in response to the current challenges within the humanitarian sector, such as worsening security conditions, increasingly complicated access to populations, the constant struggle to ensure that humanitarian principles are respected, the need to develop partnerships to optimize the impact of humanitarian aid, and so on. These are just some of the key issues that SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL deals with day in day out, not just on the ground but also at head office and within all of its units and teams.‘
