Confidentiality Policy

The NGO SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL helps people affected by conflict and violence, epidemics, natural and climatic disasters, and economic crises. Our humanitarian teams’ mission is to help those whose safety, health and lives are threatened, by covering their basic needs: food, water, shelter and sanitation.

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is committed to ensuring the protection of the personal data it collects via this site and/or through any digital or paper medium. This Confidentiality Policy details how SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, in its capacity as data controller, treats and protects your personal data collected in accordance with the provisions of the Law of January 6, 1978 relating to information technology, files and freedoms known as the “Data Protection Act”, and the General Regulation of May 25, 2018 on data protection (“GDPR”). SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is an association Loi 1901, whose headquarters are located at 89 rue de Paris, 92110 Clichy. It is represented by Antoine Peigney, its President.

 

What personal data do we collect?

The data we collect on digital or paper media are notably the following:

Identification data: Last name, first name, title, your gender, your date of birth

Contact data: E-mail and postal address, telephone number

Transaction and payment data: Bank details (credit card number*, bank account details), date and time of the donation, amount of the donation and other details relating to the transaction.

*This confidential data is processed automatically and only through the secure payment management program of our providers and is not known to SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL.

Connection data collected automatically:

We may record usage data when you access our platform and services (or use them in any way).

During each of your visits, we may collect, in accordance with applicable law and with your consent, if any, information about the devices on which you use our services or the networks from which you access our services, such as, but not limited to, your IP addresses, connection data, types and versions of Internet browsers used, types and versions of browser plug-ins, operating systems and platforms, data about your browsing experience on our platform, including your browsing experience on the various URLs of our platform, the content you access or view.

Among the technologies used to collect this information, we use cookies, which are described in more detail in the “Use of Cookies” section below.

With regard to the website www.solidarites.org, the nature and quantity of personal data that we collect depend on the way you use it.

We will inform you on the relevant pages of the site when the provision of your personal data will be required to access certain services or features: For example, when you wish to join or donate to SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, sign a petition or support an action by e-mail or when you subscribe to our electronic newsletters.

However, if you do not wish to provide your personal data, you will not be able to access the services or features in question.

 

For what purposes do we collect your personal data?

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL uses your personal data mainly for the following purposes:

To provide the information you have requested, including: information on our mission and campaigns, support actions, urgent actions, sending newsletters.

Soliciting your involvement, including: petition signatures, calls for mobilization, calls for donations.

Manage memberships and subscriptions, including: newsletters, member contact.

Ensure the administrative management of donations, including: management of direct debits and sending tax receipts.

Collect data for statistical purposes, including: analyzing our site activity and improving the products and services we offer (through cookies).

How do we process the personal data collected?

Your personal data will be processed by SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL and its partners in a secure environment. They will remain confidential and will be used only for the purposes for which you provided them to us. For example, personal data provided to make a donation will be used to process that donation; personal data provided by Internet users requesting information about membership in SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL will be used to follow up on that request and provide those people with information about SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL.

If your data is used for other purposes, we will inform you and give you the opportunity to object.

We may also send you our general newsletter, our digital newsletter, and our thematic newsletters by email. At any time, you can subscribe or unsubscribe by clicking on the link in each email.

On what legal grounds do we process your data?

When we process your personal information for the purposes set out in this Confidentiality Policy, we rely on one or more legal bases:

Consent: Any free, specific, informed and unambiguous expression of will by which the subject agrees, by a statement or clear positive act, to personal data concerning him or her being processed.

Compliance with a legal obligation: The processing of your personal data is necessary in particular for the management of your tax receipt.

Legitimate interest: For example, to respond to your requests, to communicate information related to our mission or to appeal to your commitment.

 

How long do we keep your personal data?

We keep your personal data only for the period necessary for the purposes for which they are collected and processed.

 

Security

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL attaches great importance to the security and integrity of your personal data.

Thus, and in accordance with the EDPR, we undertake to take all necessary precautions to preserve the security of your data, and in particular, to protect them against any alteration, destruction, loss, dissemination or unauthorized access, as well as against any other form of unlawful processing or communication to unauthorized persons.

 

Sharing of your personal data

The personal data that you transmit to us are with the exclusive use of SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL and will not be transmitted or yielded to third parties, except our partners in the charitable sector. For example, these third parties are likely to treat your requests for information concerning your donations. These third party service providers process your personal data as a subcontractor of SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, that is to say under the authority and on the instruction of SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, and are obliged to strictly respect the rules of confidentiality in accordance with the provisions of the Law of January 6, 1978 relating to data processing, files and freedoms known as the “Data Protection Act”, and those of the GDPR.

The banking coordinates that you transmit to us within the framework of a donation or a subscription for example, are treated by SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL or its mandated third parties.

 

Transfer outside the European Union

As a general rule, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL preserves personal data within the European Union.

Nevertheless, insofar as, for example, some of our service providers are located in countries outside the European Union (“Third Countries”), SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL could transfer some of the personal data in Third Countries. This may be the case towards Third Countries for which the European Commission has not taken a decision of “adequate protection.” In such a case, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL makes sure that this transfer is carried out in conformity with the applicable regulation and guarantees a sufficient level of protection for the private life and the fundamental rights of the people concerned (in particular by the standard contractual clauses of the European Commission).

 

Use of Cookies

Cookies are text files with small pieces of data — like a username and password — that are used to identify your computer as you use a computer network, so that it can remember who you are. Typically, a cookie contains the name of the Internet domain from which it came, its expiration date, and a value, usually a single random number.

On this site, we use session cookies. Your rights concerning your personal data

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation of May 25, 2018 (“GDPR”) and the amended Data Protection Act, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, limit and oppose the processing of your data, as well as the right to portability. You also have the right to define the fate of your personal data “post-mortem.”

If you wish to exercise your rights or if you have any questions about our Confidentiality Policy, you can contact our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at the address mentioned above, by email dpo@solidarites.org. Any request to exercise your rights must be accompanied by a photocopy of a proof of identity.

You may also file a complaint with the CNIL if you consider it necessary.

 

Modification of the Confidentiality Policy

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL reserves the right to make modifications to the present Confidentiality Policy to take into account the evolution of its practices as well as new regulations regarding protection of personal data.
