In the world today, more than 60 million human beings have had to leave their homes, forced on the road of exile mainly because of wars raging in their countries. Before being refugees, displaced persons or migrants, these are men, women and children who have lost everything. SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL has decided to give them back the vital minimum: their dignity.
Dignity kits for those who have lost everything…
In order to finance “dignity kits” including items that are more valuable than they seem (soap, sanitary pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste…) the humanitarian organisation SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is calling upon the public’s humanity through a fundraising campaign designed by the agency Ici Barbès (formerly BDDP & Fils), its pro bono partner for the last ten years. You may see it on television, in cinemas, on billboards, in the press and on the web from 25th January.
… To compose and share on the website kitdignite.org
The film “The Awakening”, in which basic need hygiene accessories are invisible, the public is engaged on the suffering of the people who cannot even take care of themselves and are on course to lose their very dignity. Campaign billboards show precisely what the kits are made of.
The film and the billboards invite you to visit the website kitdignite.org to compose your own dignity kit and engage your contacts on social networks. From only 1€ for one item, 7€ for a personal kit or 35€ for a family kit, you can provide real, dignified and vital aid to those who have lost everything.
On our planet, 1 person in 122 has had to run away from home in 2015
“In Syria, Lebanon, South Sudan, Afghanistan, but also in Europe… As humanitarians, our role is not to deal with the causes of these crises, but their consequences, says Jean-Yves Troy, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL Managing Director. While the number of refugees is relentlessly increasing, it has never been this high since World War II. On our planet, 1 person in 122 has had to run away from their home in 2015. We have no other choice but to provide relief to as many people as possible, to the most vulnerable, without discrimination or distinction between social conditions, religious or political beliefs. For the last 35 years, this has been our aid teams’ mission in 20 countries. They provide a dignified and vital aid to 5 million people, hand to hand.” Read the full op-ed by Jean-Yves Troy, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s Managing Director.
The film “The Awakening”
In order to make this film genuine and authentic, the up and coming director Ugo Mangin staged real refugees, selected through a gripping cast, and shot the film using natural light.
SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL would like to thank the channels broadcasting the film: TF1, France 2, France 3, France 4, France Ô, D8, D17, LCP, Comédie+, Planète+, Ushuaia, Histoire, AB1, AB Moteurs, Animaux, Chasse & Pêche, Mangas, Science & Vie, Toute l’histoire, Trek. As well as the UGC movie theatres.
