Cholera Emergency Response

As in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the cholera elimination strategy takes into account the capacity for rapid response (which complements sustainable projects), other countries where this disease was endemic also require this expertise.

In Haiti, Mali and Niger, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is attempting to establish rapid response teams specializing in cholera control. This is known as the “lightening strategy”, regrouped under three categories by the WASH cluster: “preventative”, “rapid response” and “community revival”. Nevertheless, the lightening strategy is only possible in areas where we have ongoing projects, such as the cholera safety zones in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (currently Kalemie, Bunia, Goma).
