After studying physics and chemistry, Christophe Vavasseur chose a university course on humanitarian action which enabled him to join Médecins sans Frontières (MSF), where he worked for 8 years. Following a short time “away” in the Cévennes region, he returned to humanitarian action with a small charity working in Afghanistan, then with SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL where he became Manager of Operations for Asia in August 2012, a position he held until April 2017.
As a Board member, Christophe wishes to
Highlight the central role of our colleagues working in the field. It is essential that they are given an active role in discussions and positions taken by the management team and the NGO community.
Through SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, he also hopes to encourage humanitarian action which is true to its history and principles, yet strongly rooted in the present; where commitment, impartiality, solidarity and respect prevail, together with the ability to always retain independence. Moreover, he wishes to contribute to the development of a stronger sense of membership within the organisation, by addressing important subjects regarding the daily life of our missions and current humanitarian issues, and by providing members with detailed reports.
Drawing on his experience as Manager of Operations at SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s head office for over four years, as well as other previous and future experiences, Christophe wants to contribute his determination and strong commitment to humanitarian action during his time on the Board.
Christophe Vavasseur was elected a member of the Board at the Annual General Meeting on 17 June 2017.
