Acting as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the city of Grenoble for the economic development and the attractiveness of the area since the end of 2019, Caroline Bouvard is managing a team of a hundred people dedicated to Grenoble’s territory on matters as diverse as the support to business creation and business development, the management of the area of economic activity, the support to the social and solidarity economy or higher education and research, the tourism development, and the management of the big infrastructures for attractiveness (Ice rink, Alps Stadium, Hexagon’s and MC2’s national scenes, Convention Center and Alpexpo’s Exhibition Center…).
After holding diverse positions abroad in the cultural and tourism sectors for seven years, she alternated for ten years between her career in local civil service and humanitarianism. She left for the first time in 2007 for a mission regarding the Darfur crisis as an Administrative and Logistics Coordinator with Médecins du Monde France, before integrating the local civil service in 2008 in project management, especially in Urban Policy. In 2012-2013 she became Country Director for SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, at first in the Central African Republic and then in Southern Sudan. She came back in institutions from 2014 to 2017, particularly as the Deputy Director of Economic Development for the city of Brest, before going back again to Solidarités International as Country Director in Lebanon from 2018 to 2019.
Being a member of the association since 2013, she decided to get more involved by running for the Board of Directors in 2020 to continue her humanitarian commitment in France for this new time period whilst waiting to leave again for on-site missions in the years to come.
