Cholera

Every year, cholera affects from 1,3 to 4 million people across the world, with about 21,000 to 143,000 deaths*. For about 20 years, our teams have fought relentlessly against this waterborne disease, especially through actions regarding water access and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH). Cholera is an acute diarrheal disease caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Worldwide, cholera remains a real threat to public health and an indicator of a lack of fairness as well as a shortfall in social development.
