Following the typhoon that hit the Philippines in November 2013, the Ouest France newspaper got involved to help the victims of the disaster by joining forces with SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL. The Ouest France Solidarités association collected donations from its newspaper readers and sent them to the Philippines.
SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s emergency operation involved providing water supplies as well as sanitation and hygiene facilities, as well as shelters and non-food item (NFI) parcels. This project helped to guarantee an income for some 2,000 vulnerable people, in exchange for their involvement on big, public interest community projects, such as clearing debris caused by the typhoon, and repairing infrastructures.
