The Conseil Régional d’Ile-de-France (Greater Paris Regional Council) supported SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s food security efforts in Liberia in 2011, as well as our emergency response following the typhoon in the Philippines in 2014.
In 2011, the council decided to support SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s project designed to revive farming and improve the livelihoods of 490 families in Bong County in Liberia, a region heavily affected by 14 years of civil war (1989-2003).
In 2014, the region mobilized its resources to deliver financial assistance as part of our NGO’s emergency response in the Philippines. Following typhoon Haiyan, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL delivered emergency aid to provide 2,500 families with access to drinking water and sanitation facilities, as well as safe shelter. More specific funding from the Conseil Régional de l’Ile-de-France goes into paid community-based work schemes designed to renovate and rehabilitate damaged infrastructures such as roads, public buildings and houses, while providing those affected with a source of income.
