Taking aid further

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL responds to the urgent needs of populations affected by the consequences of a conflict, a natural or climatic disaster, an epidemic or an economic collapse. Very often, the aid is implemented in the long term, in order to allow the beneficiaries to build a sustainable future for themselves.

In concrete terms, this means rebuilding homes, rehabilitating water and sanitation infrastructures, reviving income-generating activities and promoting sustainable economic practices. These activities aim to improve the living conditions of the communities and to strengthen their resilience. The challenge facing the affected populations is to bounce back, adapt to their new constraints and be better prepared to overcome the consequences of a possible new crisis.

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s programs are based on the commitment of the populations concerned, to whom training modules are offered on the collective management of new infrastructures, the sustainability of economic activities, disaster risk prevention and reduction, etc.

The expertise of our NGO’s teams is then fed by the traditional know-how of the local communities, combined with the knowledge of local associations and institutions to create long-term innovative and effective solutions.

The autonomy of communities is an important concern for our NGO. SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL teams always intervene at the request of the populations and their representatives and try, as much as possible, to work with local actors. Thus, when the NGO leaves the area of intervention, the proper functioning of the responses put in place is guaranteed by the populations themselves, with the possible assistance of local partners.
