SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL was created in 1980, following an emergency humanitarian aid operation in Afghanistan. The NGO then extended its activities in the country for several years, until it opened a second mission in 1989, in Romania.

Very quickly, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL teams were deployed in several countries to meet the essential and urgent needs (food, water, shelter) of the most vulnerable populations. Guided by the intensity of humanitarian needs, the NGO remains flexible and intervenes in very different contexts, ranging from armed conflicts to epidemics, as well as natural or climatic disasters.

The global context, plagued by conflicts and economic, health and social crises, has led SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL to operate in more and more territories. Teams are now present in Africa, particularly in the Sahel region, and many other projects are also being set up in the Middle East, Asia, Europe and South America.

In these different countries, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL provides a global response, combining emergency aid with long-term improvement of living conditions. The focus is on access to water, sanitation and hygiene, but also on food security and people’s livelihoods.

Present in some 20 countries and conducting comprehensive operations, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’s teams also monitor and analyze various sensitive contexts around the world. Very precise data are analyzed, such as the level of needs, the correspondence with the humanitarian mandate, the added value of the NGO, the feasibility and the constraints. Based on this information, the NGO decides to invest in new areas each year. A humanitarian action that will extend to all countries in need, and for as long as it takes.
