Iraq has been hit hard by the various conflicts in neighboring countries in the Middle East, particularly in Syria.

The country has been caught up in the numerous armed fights linked to the Islamic State (IS). Now, these very serious clashes are over and the situation is more stable and secure.

However, the humanitarian situation remains difficult for the people who had to move because of this long conflict. Many of them, who had fled their countries, had to leave the camps following their closure, yet without being able to return to their former homes. These people, sometimes entire families, are forced to live in informal camps where living conditions are very precarious.

Access to basic needs such as water, sanitation, hygiene, food or shelter is not assured because resources are extremely limited.

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL teams are present wherever aid is needed: in conflict-affected areas, in urban areas, in rural areas, in camps for displaced persons, etc.

In the field, providing access to water, sanitation and hygiene services remains the priority of SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL, which works in partnership with other local and international actors. Connections to drinking water and distribution of hygiene kits (including soap, shampoo, jerry cans, etc.) are offered.

Actions aiming to improve the overall living conditions, in the medium and long term, are also implemented in order to provide sustainable assistance to displaced populations and their host communities.
