In Cameroon, the conflict between the Cameroonian army and the armed group Boko Haram has had serious repercussions on the population. Indeed, the crisis has completely destabilized local livelihoods and various economic activities.

At the same time, agricultural production systems are not very productive due to the high yield pressure. Food insecurity is therefore growing, with several hundred thousand people affected.

This very tense situation in terms of resources is also accentuated by the continuous arrival of Nigerian and Central African refugees. The country has very limited access to basic services (water, food, sanitation, hygiene), particularly in rural areas. In the face of this situation, relations and cohesion between the refugee populations and the host communities are undermined.

The conditions of access to the field are difficult for humanitarian workers. Despite this, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is deployed throughout the country to help populations in need. The teams are building a comprehensive response: fighting against the lack of access to water, water-borne diseases and malnutrition, and building the capacities of local actors.

The teams also provide emergency support on food issues. They also work to provide quality and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene structures.

In the event of a future crisis, linked to conflict or natural or climatic constraints, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL teams also develop rapid reaction mechanisms coupled with effective alert systems.
