Covid-19: SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL’S response

Published on Thursday 19 March 2020

Faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL is mobilizing to protect its teams and beneficiaries, provide its expertise and stand by those who need it most.

As a humanitarian organization, SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL works with more than 2,000 people in 16 countries around the world; some of them are already experiencing or will soon experience the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some of the areas where we intervene have insufficient sanitary facilities to deal with this crisis.

In these conditions, our top priority is to protect the health of our teams and the most vulnerable populations to whom we provide our help. To meet this unprecedented humanitarian challenge, we have, for several weeks, been doing everything to limit health risks, support our teams and adapt their operational procedures and their responses.

More than ever, solidarity must be our response and our obligation is to intervene in the context of this health crisis. Firstly, we will make our expertise available to those endangered populations and countries affected by Covid-19 in their fight against epidemics, especially in the area of awareness of good hygiene and hand-washing practices. We will also contribute to the efforts being undertaken worldwide to find suitable solutions and stem the spread of the virus.

Wherever possible, we are continuing and will continue to ensure that we maintain our activities providing access to water, hygiene, sanitation and food security, so as not to neglect those who have the greatest need. It is our mandate; it remains our moral duty.
