SOUTH SUDAN : A member of our south sudanese team has been killed

Published on Sunday 22 December 2013

The entire SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL team is in shock following the probable assassination of one of our south sudanese team members at Ajong Tock in South Sudan on December 21st, 2013.

The charity has been working in this country since 2006, where it carries out large-scale projects to provide access to water, hygiene and sanitation. All these projects have been suspended due to the sudden upsurge of violence in the country during the last week.

SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL reaffirms the values of commitment, neutrality, independence and humanity which are at the heart of its action throughout the world. We remind the parties to the south sudanese conflict of their obligation to protect humanitarian workers.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and close friends of our colleague, as well as to our teams in South Sudan. No other declarations will be made by our organisation at this stage.
