Mali: strengthening the resilience of households

Published on Thursday 9 July 2015

In the Timbuktu region of Mali, the population was severely affected by the armed conflict that has been raging since 2012. SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL intervened in the context of its Social Nets programme.

The goal of this programme implemented with the support of the European Commission Humanitarian Office (ECHO) is to strengthen the resilience of the most vulnerable households. It is developed through a specific support regarding monetary resources (also called the CASH program) in order to provide these populations with a qualitative and quantitative diet, but also to reduce the indebtedness. Discover the portraits and stories of these people whose living conditions have considerably improved.

“I had 21 mouths to feed. During the crisis,my family and I suffered a lot. I had 21 cows but now I only have 2 left.
With the CASH Program implemented by SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL we found our dignity as men
because we were able to feed ourselves and pay our debts. Thank God we live well now”.
