Volume of activity by country
With one hundred programmes in 15 countries, 2009 brought a slightly
higher volume of activity than 2008 for our humanitarian volunteers
and local staff, despite our forced departure from Darfur.

Significant
events in 2009
- An increase
in the volume of our activity: 36.5 M€ compared
to 34.8 M€ in 2008.
- Even more people received aid: over 3.5 million
- 17 humanitarian missions in 15 countries, where 150
humanitarian volunteers and 1800 local employees are working.
- Our NGO was expelled from Darfur by the Sudanese authorities
at the beginning of the year. |

- A new mission opened
in Zimbabwe and an emergency response to the crisis in Pakistan.
- A slight fall in fundraising: 3%.
- High variations in exchange rates have had a significant
impact and in particular, have contributed to a loss of 156 K€.

Your donations in action
Thanks to you, we were able to provide aid for 3 555 230
people in 2009. 41.7 M€ were used for our humanitarian
missions, in other words 91.1% of all funds were dedicated to providing
aid to populations in need. For example:
In Chad: access to drinking water
CONTEXT:
- 245 000 Sudanese refugees and 18 000 Central
African refugees
- Team: 6 humanitarian volunteers and 38 Chadian staff
members.
=> 45 200 beneficiaries.
OUR ACTION in Adé and Daha:
- Building wells,
- Rehabilitating water points,
- Distributing sand filters, jerry cans and soap,
- Setting up water management committees, hygiene training. |
In Bangladesh: a natural disaster - Cyclone Aila
CONTEXT:
- One of the poorest countries in the world,
- A succession of natural disasters - on May 25, 2009 - Cyclone
Aila : homes destroyed, embankments and roads damaged, land
flooded with saltwater, over 500 000 people displaced,
- Team: 4 humanitarian volunteers and 31 Bangladeshi
staff members,
=> 455 400 beneficiaries.
OUR EMERGENCY ACTION:
- Rehabilitation of homes and rainwater collection ponds,
- Building latrines,
- Distribution of hygiene kits, hygiene awareness sessions... |

Our
2009 accounts
The SOLIDARITES headquarters has an Accounting
and Financial Management department.
Each overseas mission has an Administrator, and the Steering Committee
includes a Treasurer among its members.
The financial accounts are presented and voted annually, at the
Annual General Meeting. They are certified by our Auditor, IDF Expertise
et Conseil.
