SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL becomes a member of ALNAP

A few days ago, SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL became a full member of ALNAP (Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action). ALNAP is a group of humanitarian organizations and individual (institutional donors, NGOs, the Red Cross / Red Crescent, the UN, independent experts and researchers) who want to work together to improve the quality of humanitarian aid by reinforcing learning and accountability. ALNAP was created in 1997 following the multi-organization evaluation concerning the Rwanda genocide.

After having been an Observer member for two years, we have decided to join this network which is committed to improving the quality of humanitarian aid.

ALNAP is the only network of its kind, building on the wide variety of experience and expertise of its members to produce accessible, relevant tools and studies for the humanitarian community at large. Today, ALNAP is a widely recognized network, due to the tools and studies published in the fields of learning and accountability. ALNAP promotes the evaluation of humanitarian aid, creates training modules and guidelines (on the participation of local populations) and manages a database of evaluation reports.

The ALNAP steering committee comprises eight representatives of the full members and each member of the committee represents one of the ALNAP member groups: 2 NGO members, 2 UN members, 2 Red Cross members and 1 research representative.

ALNAP’s activities are managed and carried out by the ALNAP office, hosted by ODI (Overseas Development Institute) in London. Two French NGOs are now members of ALNAP: Groupe URD and SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL.
