Global Handwashing Day - Student
interview

Favor is 14 years old, she is in the 6th grade. She has 3 brothers
and sisters. Her school has been targeted by SOLIDARITES
in the frame of its water and sanitation activities. SOLIDARITES
helps schools in building wells and latrines and setting up Child
Health clubs to promote good hygiene practices.
Favor attended the activities organized by SOLIDARITES
for the Global Hand Washing Day. She has been selected at the end
of the day to answer to an interview because she shows strong knowledge
about good hygiene practice.
How was it at school before SOLIDARITES activities?
Poor hygiene practices, lack of water containers, not washing hands
properly, No hygiene education.
What do you think about the activities?
I feel that the activities will improve the hygiene situation especially
hands washing. Also the construction and rehabilitation of wells
and latrines as well as hygiene education has a greater and positive
impact on the well being of people.
What
did you do during the GHWD?
I demonstrated proper hands washing. Ate biscuits after washing
hands and paraded in the City of Harper.
How did you find it?
It was very interesting. I acquired good education from the drama,
and feel that in the absence of hands washing, one is likely to
attract diarrhoeal disease and may die.
How do you see your future life in Liberia?
I feel that my future is good according to what I have seen during
the day. I will continue to live a healthy life if I should always
practice good hygiene.
