Our humanitarian action
Improving the Living Conditions of Populations Affected by Conflict and Drought

Location: Galgaduud Region, Central Somalia
Number of Beneficiaries: 6,300 direct beneficiaries
- Agricultural Input Distribution: 720 farmers trained and given seeds, agricultural tools and irrigation kits.
- Infrastructure Rehabilitation with Local Participation ("Food for Work"): rehabilitation of 8 water catchment points, repair of 21 km of road allowing populations to reach services and markets more easily.
- Farmland Development: recovery of 2,000 hectares of potentially productive land, clearing sand dunes to increase local farmers' fields.

Location: Bardera District and Southern Zone of Ceel Waq District, Gedo Region
Number of Beneficiaries: 34,524 direct beneficiaries
- Construction and Action to Provide Drinking Water: construction and repair of 11 wells, distribution of 2,000 ceramic filters, repair of 10 rainwater collection systems and construction of 10 wells, "water trucking" to provide for 6 shepherd villages, creation and maintenance of a stock of chlorine packs for emergency distribution.
- Flood Risk Reduction Works: raising river banks and creating flood drainage channels in villages at risk.
- Sanitation: construction of 200 latrines in displaced persons' camps, organization of hygiene promotion (via radio, group sessions etc.), distribution of non-food kits.
- Food Security Reinforcement: improved access to farmable land, distribution of seeds and agricultural tools to 500 homes.
