Can a person who does not have the qualifications that you seek still
have a chance of participating in one of your overseas programmes
as a volunteer?
Solidarités recruits volonteers with technical backgrounds, since
our programmes are very specialised. We therefore regularly seek the
following candidates:
- rehabilitation engineers and specialists;
- engineers and specialists in agronomy, rural engineering, and food
safety;
- hydraulic engineers and specialists;
- nutritionists;
- logisticians.
We also seek candidates with a more generalist background:
- administrators (financial management and accountancy of overseas
programmes);
- coordinators for our operational bases (management from a financial,
administratif, human resources and operational point of view).
The experience required to become a volunteer varies according to
the size of the programmes to be implemented. We look for a minimum
of 2 years of work experience, and high committment to humanitarian
causes.

Us section of this site. You may also find some links to other
sites which may help you on the Some Useful Links

Which activities are
carried out in Sarajevo?
We are currently closing
down our activities in Sarajevo; the final reports have been written
and will soon be submitted. The Director of Soldarités, Alain
Boinet, recently made a last symbolic trip to Sarajevo, from which
humanitarian aid was provided since July 1992: from the war-time emergency
programmes to the rehabilitation and assistance for families returning
home as peace returned.
In Sarajevo itself, Solidarités implemented several emergency
programmes at the beginning of the fighting, then opened a Youth Center
named "Sunçokret" (sunflower in serbo-croate). The centre was passed
on to a bosniac team at the end of 1999.
Please consult the
Bosnia page for further information.
